What is Program Subsidi Upah?

Program Subsidi Upah (PSU), also known as the wage subsidy program, is a financial assistance paid to the employer of each enterprise for each local employee earning only RM4,000 or below. The purpose of the PSU is to help employers who are affected in terms of economy due to COVID-19 in order to continue the company's operations as well as preventing workers from losing their jobs and sources of income for all companies.


What are the requirements?

In order to apply for the program, applicants must fit the requirement below:

  • Local workers earning RM4,000 and below

  • Decreased rate of 30% or more of total sales or monthly income for 2020/2021 compared to the same month in 2019 before the implementation of the Movement Control Order (PKP)

  • Employers and employees must register or contribute to PERKESO before 1 January 2021

  • Employers have registered with the Companies Commission of Malaysia (SSM - Companies Commission of Malaysia) or Local Authorities (PBT) before 1 January 2021.

  • For employers who receive this assistance, they are required to retain all their employees earning RM4,000 and below. Employers are allowed to reduce working hours or reduce pay after consulting with employees.
